10. Hanover, New Hampshire Home to the famed Ivy League school of Dartmouth, Hanover provides a serene setting tucked away in the small New England state of New Hampshire. Hanover is a very small town with a population under 10,000 people, but like most small towns in New Hampshire will tell you, that doesn’t mean that it’s boring at all. With different activities like skiing and hockey available nearby, students can get their fair share of time outdoors. Hanover's Main Street. Image Source
New England is a very beautiful area of the United States and with the quiet of a small town, Hanover makes a great place to study for that Ivy League degree. Just a short two hour drive from Boston or an hour from Manchester, it’s not too inconvenient to take a break from the small town life and get away to the big city for a while either. 9. Columbia, Missouri Columbia is home to The University of Missouri, Stephens College, and Columbia College, but it is known for more than just being a college town. The quaint downtown area is a mixture of quirky and traditional, almost a microcosm for the entire town of Columbia itself. The largest of Columbia's schools, Mizzou, is home to students from large cities like Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City and also small towns and rural communities across the Midwest. Despite the possible culture clash, no one cares where you’re from and everyone coexists once the weekend rolls around and the small but bustling nightlife scene brings the town to life. If nightlife isn’t your thing, Columbia also provides a variety of outdoors activities, ranging from a good selection of parks and trails, including the MKT trail. The art scene is bustling, and festivals like the True/False Film Festival, Art in the Park, and Roots n Blues and BBQ ensure that there is something for everybody. |
