18. Palawan, Philippines
The Philippines is South East Asia's up and coming destination. With pristine beaches, jungle paradises, and the friendliest people you'll find anywhere in the world, the Philippines will inevitably start popping up on people's itineraries and Instagram feeds. Palawan is a great place to start, with its limestone karsts and hidden beaches being a worthy competitor to the more popular Ha Long Bay in Vietnam and the "Koh"s of Thailand. One of the world's seven natural wonders is the underground river in Puerto Princesa, and on the northern tip of the island, El Nido remains a relatively undeveloped island paradise. 17. Havana, Cuba Ignore any prior knowledge you have about Cuba and start planning your trip now. Exploring the colorful city of Havana is an adventure that challenges even the most experienced travelers. With little English spoken, sparse tour agencies, and minimal external commercial influence, Cuba is an untouched dream destination. It is often said that going to Cuba is like stepping back into a time machine. There is definitely a truth to that once you find yourself surrounded by old-timey cars while devoid of ubiquitous Wi-Fi and cell service. There's no such thing as a boring day in Cuba and I recommend visiting before the city changes to accommodate to the influx of travelers.
16. Cartagena, Colombia
A colonial walled city nestled on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia with great weather, nightlife, and culture leaves not much else to ask for. Travelers love going to colorful Cartagena. Colombia is safer than ever before and adventurers are beginning to take advantage of what this incredible country has to offer, making it a top destination for 2018.
