Every year, the job market gets more and more unrecognizable than the previous years. With technology, robotics, and other factors replacing some jobs and creating others, what might have been the most ideal college degree for job prospects five years ago might be completely obsolete now. This is the 2017 version of the worst college majors, based on how likely one is to get a job, the starting salary out of graduation, and the likelihood of job retention and security.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. There’s no denying the importance of history in shaping our future, but unfortunately for history majors, the demand for historians is not as high as it should be. The unemployment rate for history majors is at 10.2%, with an average starting salary of $32,000.
