The 10 Worst College Majors of 2019
June 11th, 2019
Another year, another upsetting list to devastate art and non-STEM majors across the country. Sure, low pay is a big factor in what makes a degree worthless, but it’s far from the only thing. With the job market as volatile as ever, the chances of finding a job is factored in just as heavily as starting salaries and mid-career salaries. What good is a degree if you can’t even get a job, right?

7. Art History
Just like music and religion, art is one of those things that has been around forever and has helped sculpt the modern world in many aspects. And just like music and religion, it appears on this list. While it is a topic that is beyond intriguing, it does not have as much pull as more useful degrees in the workforce. It does have the highest average starting salary out of the ten majors that make an appearance on this list, but even $41,400 is on the lower end of the spectrum for college graduates. An art history degree also pales in comparison when you factor in employment potential. More than 20% of the history graduates have dropped out of the workforce completely. An additional 4% are unemployed, holding on to the slim prospect of finding a relevant career.
