It's always incredible what a group of dedicated individuals with a vision can do. Following the tragic Charleston shooting which took the lives of nine innocent people, the increasing racial tensions and hostility has found its way its old battleground: none other than the southern United States.

With calls to remove the Confederate flag receiving increasing support, some voiced their opposition to its removal, while others took action in the form of arson. Multiple churches in the south were burned down. The churches, which should be a haven and a symbol of faith and hope, were predominantly black and Christian. It is difficult to believe we are in the year 2015 while these sickening acts revive what should have been long gone racial ideals.

However, in the midst of what seems to be an impending race war, an amazing group of individuals chose to act otherwise. A group of Muslims from across the United States, led by the 23 year old Faatimah Knight managed to raise $35,000 to help rebuild those black churches. While their initial goal was only $10,000, they managed to surpass that... in just 12 hours.

Faatimah Knight, 23, helped raise $35,000 to rebuild the black churches that were burned down. The campaign's page states that "all houses of worship are sanctuaries" and encourages people to "unite to help our brothers and sisters in faith". Despite the fact that Christian-Muslim hostility is very much alive in today's world, this inspiring group chose to make headlines in a much more uplifting way.

Let's hope more stories of acceptance and unity begin to appear and make headlines to remind us that humans are much more powerful when they work with each other rather than against each other.

Share this little glimmer of hope with your friends and help remind everyone the power of human kindness.
