9. Marshall's Dad Dies
“I’m not ready for this.” Neither were we Marshall. Neither were we. The lovable Marshmallow doesn't ever deserve anything bad to happen to him, so when his father, mentor, and best friend suddenly passes away leaving Marshall with very little closure, it was just a cruel twist. This came as a shock, even for Jason Segel as he only found out what was going to happen just minutes before they filmed this scene.
