10. Pedro Alonso Lopez (The Monster of the Andes)
Claiming to have raped and killed over 300 girls, the Colombian-born Lopez haunted the countries of Peru and Ecuador over his reign of terror. This led to him being known as The Monster of the Andes due to his widespread killings across South America. Upon his capture, he led the police to 53 graves in Ecuador, where the bodies of girls ranging from 9-12 years old were found. He was found guilty of 110 murders in Ecuador, and confessed to an additional 240 murders in Peru and Colombia. After fourteen years in prison, and just three years in a psychiatric ward, The Monster of the Andes was released in 1998. |
