X-Men: Apocalypse a Disappointing Waste of Talent

The year of the disappointing superhero film continues.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is the ninth installment of the X-Men series and the sequel to 2014’s “Days of Future Past,” a movie that I loved and is universally accepted as one of, if not the, best of the franchise. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence all reprise their roles from the previous two films and Bryan Singer once again directs. This time around, the X-Men must stop Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the first-ever mutant, who awakens from a 5,000 year sleep and wants to destroy the world (because, cliché).

I think I finally got hit with that Marvel/superhero fatigue everyone was talking about after “Age of Ultron.”
“Captain America: Civil War” is the 13th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the final installment of the Captain America trilogy. Chris Evans returns as the titular stars-and-stripes hero and Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Iron Man. After the world’s governments call for the Avengers to be restricted, the team is divided and forced to take sides between agreeing to the deal or going rogue. Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie and a half dozen other actors also star as Anthony and Joe Russo direct.

After Arsonists Burned Down Multiple Black Christian Churches in the South, What This Group of US Muslims Did Will Restore Your Faith in the World

It's always incredible what a group of dedicated individuals with a vision can do. Following the tragic Charleston shooting which took the lives of nine innocent people, the increasing racial tensions and hostility has found its way its old battleground: none other than the southern United States.

With calls to remove the Confederate flag receiving increasing support, some voiced their opposition to its removal, while others took action in the form of arson. Multiple churches in the south were burned down. The churches, which should be a haven and a symbol of faith and hope, were predominantly black and Christian. It is difficult to believe we are in the year 2015 while these sickening acts revive what should have been long gone racial ideals.

The Twitter campaign for this movie was #OneLastTime. So it only seems fitting that Peter Jackson, the man who truly doesn’t know how to stop when he’s ahead, took one final shot at ruining his far superior Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Written and directed by the aforementioned Jackson, “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” is the final film of the Hobbit trilogy, the prequel series to the Lord of the Rings. Martin Freeman stars as Bilbo, Ian McKellen plays that lovable wizard Gandolf, and Richard Armitage plays Thorin, the leader of the Dwarves as the trio try and protect their mountain from invading foreign armies.

Jon Stewart's Segment on Ferguson is Something That EVERYONE Needs to See

By Eli Solidum

Jon Stewart is a comedic genius, so it's a pretty rare occurrence for one of his humorous political rants to cause a reaction that isn't laughter. His monologue on the situation in Ferguson, Missouri was one of those rare occurrences. It incites emotions of anger, sadness, and even heartfelt compassion. Let's face it, for regular watchers of The Daily Show, the content has become so predictable that the most emotion we display while watching it is probably a few chuckles and a lot of head shaking. It's not that it is boring or unfunny by any means, but the show takes the same path every episode. Poking fun at an ignorant politician's statement, and absolutely shitting on Fox News. Same stuff, different episode.

But what Stewart showed us in his segment about Ferguson was far from his norm. Stewart's been around for a while, and this side of him has rarely ever been seen. Scripted or not.. this is one of the most powerful and heartfelt speeches covering Ferguson, racism, and just plain compassion for other human beings.

"Transformers" Is Less Than Meets the Eye

I have a new expression I hope catches on: fool me once, shame on me. Fool me four times, you’re Michael Bay.

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” is the fourth film in Michael Bay’s Transformers series. It  features an all-new human cast, including Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager, the only Texan with a Boston accent. This time around the Autobots are being hunted by the US government to avenge the events from the last film.

I don’t really know where to begin to review “Extinction”, so I’ll start with the script. It’s awful. Like on every conceivable level. From the dialogue to the plot, everything is atrocious. There’s a part in the film when Wahlberg’s daughter turns to her boyfriend and says “still glad that we met?”. She says that 100% out of the blue; he didn’t say anything to make that a coherent sentence. The screenwriter just thought he should have the girl say something cute to show that the couple cares about each other.

Still want proof the dialogue is awful? Ok, I have plenty of ammo. When the CIA storms into Wahlberg’s front yard and begins to search the grounds, he tells the guy that he needs a warrant. The agent turns to Marky Mark and says “my face is my warrant”. [sigh]

Transcendence Movie Review

You know those movies that leave the audience with burning questions about real life issues? Yeah, “Transcendence” isn’t one of those movies.

Directed by cinematographer Wally Pfister in his directorial debut, the film stars Johnny Depp as an artificial intelligence researcher who is mortally wounded by a radical anti-technology group. Before he dies, however, his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) uploads his consciousness to a computer. As the radical group approaches to finish what they started, Evelyn must decide if the intelligence claiming to be her deceased husband is who it says it is. Sound confusing? Yeah, you’re telling me.

At around 7:00 AM on Wednesday morning, a student armed with two knives began stabbing people at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. Many of those injured were students, and several were hospitalized. Fortunately, all victims are expected to survive.

As of right now, very little information has been disclosed about the suspect, but the suspect is in custody. The suspect, a 16 year old sophomore, began stabbing people prior to school starting, at 7:13 AM. While the students were in panic, many of them acted heroically. They alerted everyone and pulled fire alarms to bring attention to the situation. One female student was even credited for saving the life of a victim who was stabbed. The situation was reported to be under control by around 7:30 to 7:40. Without a doubt, the situation could have been much worse if it weren't for the heroic actions of the students and the quick response by law-enforcement and medical aid.

As more information is disclosed, we will update accordingly. For now, send your support and thoughts to those affected.

Undoubtedly, there will be those assholes who will politicize everything and use this as propaganda. Don't be that guy. Be respectful to the situation. Do not make a sassy comment about gun control or act all high-and-mighty because you are probably just an asshole.
