Montreal Passes Pit Bull Ban That Will Kill Many Innocent Pit Bulls
Montreal bans all future ownership of pit bull and pit bull type breeds in the city.
An extremely controversial bill in Montreal passed today, shocking and disgusting many dog owners and dog lovers across the world. The idea was brought up after a vicious mauling left a Montreal woman dead, and despite the controversy surrounding the bill, it passed comfortably by a 37-23 margin.
What exactly does the bill entail? First off, all pit bulls and dogs that resemble pit bulls are banned in the city. This only affects new owners of pit bulls, as those who already own them will be allowed to keep theirs. Perhaps the most controversial part of the bill was the immediate euthanization of all pit bulls and dogs with pit bull characteristics in animal shelters. Although it is a tragedy that a woman died, the killing of many innocent pit bulls is not the solution or the correct pathway to change.
