Shark attacks result in about ten deaths per year. Sharks are only fifteenth on this list. Number one on the list kills over 270,000 times more humans than sharks do... So what animal takes the top spot? Bears? Lions? Nope. Which animal it is may shock you.

1. Mosquitoes (2.7 Million Deaths Per Year)
The smallest creature on this list happens to be by far the most deadly. While it isn't the mosquitoes themselves that kill people, the rapid rate of disease transmission makes them the number one killer in the world. Malaria itself results in 2-3 million deaths per year, and that is just one of the diseases known to be transmitted by mosquitoes. You would probably need 270,000 mosquitoes to equal the size of the biggest shark, but you'd need 270,000 sharks to equal the amount of deaths caused by these pests.
