4. Jimmy Carter
At first glance, Jimmy Carter's resume might not be the most impressive. Most people on both sides of the political spectrum view him as relatively forgettable as far as presidents go. However, Jimmy Carter exemplifies what it means to be a President for the people. Even long after his presidency has ended, Jimmy Carter continues to work for the best interests of the country and for its citizens. In 2002, Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize for his peaceful approach to diplomacy, always seeking solutions that did not involve violence or potential loss of life. And though his gentle face may not seem tough and threatening, Jimmy Carter's time in the U.S. Navy was nothing to scoff at. Against America's enemies weren't the only wars he fought, either. President Carter also launched a war against the Guinea worm disease, no doubt playing a part in bringing cases from 3.5 million in 1986 to a measly 126 cases in 2014. So it goes to show you, you don't need to be some gun-toting general to do your work well. These days, you can catch President Carter building houses with Habitat for Humanity. Talk about an exemplary figure in American politics. Most Badass Quote: “I have one life and one chance to make it count for something... My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.”
