5. Tsetse Fly (9,000- 34,000 Deaths Per Year)
The tsetse fly, also known as tzetze or tik-tik fly, is found mostly in Africa. It is best-known for transmitting diseases, the most deadly of which is Sleeping Sickness, or African trypanosomiasis. Sleeping sickness outbreaks have been gradually reducing, down to around 9000 deaths in 2010, but have reached peaks of 34,000 as recently as twenty years ago.
